These text messages invited him to complete his DoorDash driver profile and provided a link to access the incomplete profile. Account email address changes! Bamm… Bank routing info changes to his account!
It’s a paper trail to protect their rear ends. He wants to start a class action suit tomorrow to get these guys. Other individuals have had similar experiences with the company, clearly indicating a pattern of unsolicited contact via text message. What a long post for a well known reported scam. We contacted NBC Los Angeles news. I then got a confirmation email from the actual DD system that went to my phone as a text with a 6 digit confirmation code at the bottom of the notification message at the top of my phone. Laughingly simple from a technical standpoint, but incredibly sophisticated from a psychological one. I also unknowingly gave him my information without consideration because I was on a drive and he knew exactly where I was(because he placed a fake order to initiate the transaction and communication with me). Furthermore, he is calling in to Dasher to talk directly with the driver of an order he himself placed, so he is able to connect to my cellphone THROUGH the Dasher App… thereby giving the impression he is from Dasher because I subconsciously recognize the number from previous deliveries (it’s always the same number for our area) Recognizing a familiar number is a way of immediately borrowing authority from DoorDash! https://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx. So far from my experience they have told me they have given all of the information to the proper to department without giving me any information on a phone number, name of a supervisor, email or any time when I can expect to be heard. I am currently in the middle of small crisis and the phone number he is calling from appears to be a legitimate DD#…. I am now more concerned with how DoorDash as a company has handled the matter. Since I was driving making an order I did not pull up the full message to see their disclaimer to not give my info over the phone to anyone, I just saw the code so without hesitation I gave the code to the scammer. Bamm…. That's your first clue :(. I've been getting the same messages even after signing in and accepting deliveries.
