If you have not tried this one I highly recommend it. Because of my experience with other Old Forester bottles, I was hesitant to try the “Whiskey Row” series.
I would have guessed somewhere around 90 in a blind test.
Bottled at 115 proof this was the 3 rd release as part of Old Forester’s Whiskey Row series and instantly became the only ongoing Old Forester release with a proof higher than 100 proof. Interesting yeah you can call it the 1915. In this case, the 1920 recreates their bourbons made during Prohibition. Bourbon snoob here! I’m happy to say that the color of bourbon is what it is, natural. Thus, in order to commemorate this significant period in its brand’s history, Old Forester released Old Forester 1920 ‘Prohibition Style’ bourbon in 2017. 1910 though gets so mixed on reviews, seems there are two camps. Let’s see how it tastes. The 1910 is lighter and some of the darker caramel notes reminded me of the Nikka from the Barrel. Kudos to them for making two distinct products here.

It’s available and (somewhat) affordable. Old Forester 1920, at 57.5%, is the highest proof expression in the series. Nose: Richer cherry, cinnamon, vanilla. And I love the 1920. i agree with your assessment on these two. Not quite the complexity but very close. 1:1 ratio - I personally think they compliment each other very well and I actually use the blend as my house whiskey currently. However, Old Forester was granted a permit to continue distilling on Louisville’s Whiskey Row.

If I had one minor gripe, it would be that this expression likely started as normal barrels of Old Forester distillate, with a barrel entry proof of 125. I follow you often and respect your opinions. Old Forester put this whiskey out basically to be a prop in the second Kingsman movie, and the distillery released a few bottles to the public. This bourbon is well beyond it’s age as a style. It could be a little cheaper but like Blake says, I’ve paid $60 for worse. Old Forester 1920. The only heat came from the nose but none on the pallet.

In fact, I do not believe that Statesman is a part of the Whiskey Row series, but it may as well be because of when it was released and the general shape of the bottle looks the same. If you only drink buffalo trace,eagle Rare etc,go with the 1910. Upon a recommendation from a grinned I bought a bottle and wow they really nailed this one. Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style bourbon retails for about $60 per 750 mL bottle. I don’t think so … Not if it is still labeled as bourbon.
I have yet to regret an OF purchase. To pay homage to this era, Old Forester presents 1920 Prohibition Style Bourbon at 115 proof to represent the rich flavor profile this bourbon had nearly 100 years ago.

I still think the hype isn’t worth it. No age statement and obviously caramel color is added to it.
As far as I can tell they run a great organization. It is 115 proof and reminiscent of the style of bourbon distilled by the brand during the prohibition era.

It’s spicy with notes of cinnamon and minty. Conclusion: The two bourbons were more different than similar.
And this is where Old Forester 1920 takes off. I associate the aroma of the 1920 more to the classic bourbon profile. 1920 has more of the classic bourbon taste, and it is a solid dram. Old Forester 1920 releases fragrant and alcohol-soaked maraschino cherries, brown sugar, and apple pie spices with a healthy dose of musty corn, dough, and wood that cover my nostrils.
