I love most of the recipes on here, but these didn't have a whole lot of flavor and they were very labor intensive for the 'meh' results it produced.

I made these last night and although I did have some problems with the crumbs sticking, they were AMAZING! I think if people don't soak these for enough time that might be why the crumb mixture doesn't stick.

My 13 year old makes these about once a week. I cant wait to try more of your recipes.

I did soak the onions in the buttermilk for a couple of hours and then used tongs to dip them in the bread crumbs.

Made these as a side dish withe the pork chop and shallots recipe, they were awesome! I love love love your recipes. They are 0 fat, 15 carbs, .5 fiber, 2 protein. Using one is so much more healthy than cooking your food with a deep fryer. Bake for about 8 minutes, until the top layer is golden. Egg beaters/egg whites or buttermilk?

I was lazy and ended up using just the breadcrumbs on the rest and it actually stuck much better than the original mixture…so I think maybe the finer the crumbs the easier it will stick. I did substitue egg beaters for buttermilk and they soaked just fine and the coating stuck well and crisped up wonderfully.Thanks for the recipe! Followed everything to the letter as you suggested.

I’m sure this makes them a little less healthy but it’s still a better substitute for the fried version! Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together in a bowl.

Batter did not stick to the onion rings and made them hard to bread. Dinner tomorrow night.

I think I would try them again with a few changes suggested by others…dividing the breadcrumb mixture so that I could dump/refresh half way through (mine became pretty wet and clumpy with buttermilk and wouldn't stick to the onions after a few rings).

Before buying this model I had the older XL Air Fryer which was bigger but took a lot more space to store. I was wondering if you still have you use just egg whites, do you have to still let them sit for an hour? How do you know how much to deduct for the leftover ingredients?

These are fine and they worked very well.

Let any excess drip off, then dip in the breadcrumb mixture to coat. I shook the soaked onions in a ziplock in several different batches.

It made the crumb mix soggy pretty quick, but if you use only a little crumbs with every set you should be fine.

Since my husband has to eat gluten-free, I used several gluten-free products, but didn't matter, they were delicious!

I didn't have corn flakes so I used just the bread crumbs and panko and ran them thru my mini food processor and added salt, pepper and some cayenne powder.Towards the end of the onions I dipped them in the milk (set aside in a bowl) before putting the min the bread crumbs.I sliced the onions sort of thick so I baked at 450 for 12 minutes and then jumped up to 500 for another minute or two. Then, when I took them out out the buttermilk, I dipped them in flour, shook them off, and redipped in buttermilk…then I dipped them in the breadcrumbs. Cook at 375° F for 6-8 minutes. I doubted how these would turn out once I was making them, since the breadcrumb mixture didn't stick all that well to my onions.

Onion Rings have always been one of my favorites and to say I'm excited about this air fryer version would be an understatement. Put half of the panko in a fourth bowl so you can switch to the second part after the first got sticky. I'm going to substitute Tony Chachere's for the seasonings. Would it work to place the corn flakes in a bag and crush with a rolling pin? As soon as I saw this recipe, I had to make it.

Continue to air fry for another 8 minutes or until done.

perhaps start out on a lower temp and turn up at the end to crisp up the outside?

I made these and they were okay. Updated: 04/24/19. I never count something I don't use, same with marinades. These are awesome, I made them again without soaking them in the buttermilk first, they were exactly the same. I cooked the onion rings for 7 minutes, turning them and spraying them again half way through.

Glad they worked, yes using your fingers will make the crumbs fall off so even a chop stick would work.
