Screw Conveyors

The two main types of conveyors used to convey materials are screw conveyors and chain conveyors. We manufacture our own screw conveyors to our design in our own workshop.

Screw conveyors (also known as trough conveyors) are widely used as a way of handling bulk materials with a range of densities, including meals and powders. Some advantages of the screw are simple design, ease of maintenance, low cost, and its strong design.

A screw comprises of these main components: casing, lids, outlet, and blade on shaft. As a standard the blade (also known as flighting) is continuously rolled, but it canc be supplied as ribbon segments or cresent blades. It is also standard to provide a single outlet on the conveyor, but more outlets can be added if required.

A screw conveyor comes in the following sizes: 6″ (152mm), 8″ (203mm), 10″ (254mm), 12″ (305mm), 14″ (356mm), 16″ (406mm)

The size of the screw conveyor required depends on the cacpacity, speed, and material being conveyed. If you would like to know which screw suits your requirements please email us on info@locom.co.uk and we will be more than pleased to send you a quotation to suit your needs.
